Happy Birthday or Happy Birth-Nay?

If you’re looking for a quick LEGO gift and see a birthday cake set, the obvious answer is to go for that, right? Well, here’s the latest party bag set for your birthday needs, but let’s see if it’s worth making the cake and having it too…

Cakes and Colours

There is no way to sugarcoat the slice of life that this set brings to any party. But when a child sinks their teeth into this, are they going to feel nourished by what they have to build with?

Initial birthday signs point to this being a simple what-you-see-is-what-you-get, and they aren’t wrong. There is nothing wrong with a set being exactly what you see on the tin. But this birthday cake offers a little bit more fun than the average birthday set.

With one simple hinge swing, you can open up the cake for a small party surprise inside. None of the parts here are exceedingly rare. But this is a nice easy option for someone to snag that chocolate icing mould and another kid’s torso for the collection. Party torso too!

I do have to ask why the adult figure has a cake sled. At least, that’s what I think it is.

Verdict

Hey, it’s what it says on the tin. I do like that the model opens up for a clean clean-up amidst a party, so it’s a win here.

It’s targeted at kids, so it’ll be great for them. Adults? Not so much. They would probably be happier with a real cake.
