Reality competition shows are usually pretty cutthroat by nature, considering they pit a dozen-ish experts against each other in a battle over a big cash prize and lots of prestige. RuPaul’s Drag Race, Project Runway, Top Chef, Survivor—these are not stress-free experiences for the contestants or the viewers! That’s why a show like Fox’s Lego Masters really stands out. Sure, brick builders from across the country are battling against each other for a prize, and yes, there is a time crunch and seemingly insurmountable challenges. But like The Great British Baking Show and Making It, the family-friendly Lego Masters prioritizes good-spirited fun over manufactured drama. This is a competition show where everyone feels like a winner, from the eliminated contestants to the kids watching their very first reality show at home.
While Lego Masters has built an international audience thanks to predecessors from across the pond, it’s a totally new sensation for American audiences. That’s why it was super rad to have Amy Corbett, a.k.a. Brickmaster Amy, pay a visit to the Decider office and give us the inside scoop on what it’s like building to build on the LEGO phenomenon. Corbett has quite a history with LEGO beyond her judging duties on Lego Masters.
